Inside rare £2million McLaren supercar with three seats & one owner – but only 56 miles on the clock

A RARE McLaren supercar with just 56 miles on the clock and one previous owner is set to sell for £2million.

The blue Speedtail – one of only 106 made – is the fastest model to date and can reach a staggering top speed of 250mph in just 12.8 seconds.

McLaren’s first ever Hyper-GT has just three seats – one of which is centrally positioned – and boasts a 1,034bhp, 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

The motor has averaged around 18 miles per year since being built more than three years ago.

It is being sold by RM Sotheby’s at an auction on January 25 in Phoenix, Arizona, US.

The McLaren is the 69th Speedtail to be made and is described as being in “impeccable, as-new condition.”

An RM Sotheby’s spokesperson said: “In 2020, McLaren dramatically rekindled the spirit of its seminal F1 supercar with the launch of the futuristic Speedtail.

“An exclusive machine at the leading edge of 21st-century hypercar performance that, like its predecessor, was limited to only 106 units.

“As with the F1, the Speedtail is built around a lightweight carbon-fibre tub and features the same three-person seating configuration, with the driver in the centre, as well as vertical dihedral doors.

“The similarities are clear, but advances in technology over the past three decades abound.”

The 723-horsepower 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 is also described as a “thoughtful evolution” of the McLaren P1’s engine.

It features a revised piston design and enhanced cylinder-head cooling.

“The Speedtail’s electric motor and battery, meanwhile, were both developed by McLaren’s Formula E technology group,” the Sotheby’s spokesperson added.

“The motor smooths out power delivery at low engine speeds, providing an additional 312 horsepower for a total output of 1,035 horsepower, and a jaw-dropping top speed of 250mph.”

The guide price is between £1,566,680 and £1,958,350.

It comes after the world’s fastest road car with a top speed of 300mph emerged for sale earlier this week.

The black and orange 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ Coupe is one of just 30 examples made and is expected to sell for around £4.3 million.

And a car dubbed “the most beautiful Ferrari ever built” could be yours – for an eye-watering price of £29million.

RM Sotheby’s is selling off the rare “Pontoon Fendered” 250 Testa Rossa race car at auction late next month.
