IF you fancy reaching new heights, then you can find the biggest treehouse in the world right in the UK.
The Treehouse at The Alnwick Garden’s is the largest in the world – after the previous oldest sadly burned down.
The original biggest treehouse was found in Crossville, Tennessee in the US, which had five levels and 90 rooms. which worked out to around 32,200sqft.
Sadly The Ministers’ Treehouse burned down in 2019.
And now the UK-based treehouse has taken the crown, becoming the world’s biggest at 6,000sqft.
The Treehouse opened in 2005 after a two-year project.
Inside is the Treehouse Restaurant, with a “modern British menu” served during lunch or dinner next to a log fire and fairy lights.
The current winter menu, which changes seasonally, includes classics such as pulled lamp and pork chops, as well as pork bely, scallops and mushroom risotto.
There is also the Potting Shed Afternoon Tea, with a festive option including crispy glazed pigs and blankets and Christmas classic sandwiches.
Otherwise The Treehouse is also open for events and even weddings.
One person wrote on TripAdvisor: “Really quirky place to eat. Fabulous structure.”
Another said it was a “magical place”.
A third wrote: “Best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had!”
Mark Brassell, director of The Alnwick Garden, said: “The Alnwick Garden Treehouse is an incredible feat of engineering and design attracting visitors from around the world.”
“It’s a magical place, children can play on the rope swing bridges, visitors can grab something to eat in The Potting Shed, or have a gourmet meal in The Treehouse Restaurant, with many couples getting married there too. It’s very special.”
You don’t need a ticket to The Alnwick Garden’s if you are just visiting The Treehouse.
But if you fancy a visit to the ground, you can check out the 11th century castle, which featured in two Harry Potter films as well as Downton Abbey.
And earlier this year, The Alnwick Gardens opened the world’s largest play structure, Elfwin Drin.
Found at Lilidorei, the magical village celebrates Christmas all year round.
The King of Lilidorei’s castle is the main attraction, with the 85ft tall huge playhouse having 10 towers as well as tube slides and bridges.
Fancy a trip to the beach? There is also the nearby town of Alnmouth, which has a huge stretch of sandy beach.
