The UK’s former top cyber spy once found himself face to face with a soldier at an Army checkpoint with a car full of alcohol.

It was the early 1990s and a teenage Ciaran Martin was returning from a “lads’ holiday” in Donegal on the same day Sinn Fein had called a meeting about the proposed ceasefire.
