The biggest gainers of the session on the were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 8.23% or 336.00 points to trade at 4,417.00 at the close. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (TYO:) added 4.24% or 156.00 points to end at 3,833.00 and Fanuc Corp. (TYO:) was up 3.98% or 179.00 points to 4,672.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nintendo Co Ltd (TYO:), which lost 3.05% or 280.00 points to trade at 8,901.00 in late trade. Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:) declined 2.67% or 195.00 points to end at 7,120.00 and DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:) shed 1.65% or 42.50 points to 2,536.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2713 to 931 and 234 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.09% to 22.62.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.04% or 0.03 to $77.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.15% or 0.12 to hit $80.67 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 1.64 to trade at $2,750.34 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.01% to 156.26, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 161.10.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 108.92.
