Killeen police investigate early morning auto-pedestrian accident – KWTX


KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – Killeen Police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian on Sunday morning.

According to KPD, on August 18, 2024, at approximately 4:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of S Fort Hood Road in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

Upon the officers arrival, they located a male in roadway with severe injuries.

He was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple in critical condition.

KPD reports that a preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing S Fort Hood Road west to east. When a black Chevrolet SUV, traveling north on S Fort Hood Road, entered the left turn lane in preparation to turn onto W Elms Road and struck the pedestrian, who may have paused while crossing.

The pedestrian was not crossing at the lighted intersection at W Elms Road and was in a poorly lit area, wearing dark-colored clothing.

No injuries were reported by the driver and two passengers of the SUV.

KPD says that they will continue to investigate this crash and there is no further information at this time.
