King Charles's 'superfood' lunch during cancer battle given verdict by nutritionist


King Charles has reportedly added a nutritionist-approved ‘superfood’ to his diet while battling cancer, as revealed to the Daily Mail.

According to a source, the King has adopted a new habit of eating “half an avocado to sustain him” throughout his day, in lieu of a full lunch, initially taking on this routine with a touch of hesitance.

They explained to the paper: “With some reluctance, he now has something to eat at lunchtime – a snack, really. He now eats half an avocado to sustain him through the day. It’s important, particularly if you have got an illness.”

While some may find avocado a peculiar choice for a snack, a nutritional therapist has touted its health benefits and contribution to a well-balanced diet. Kerry Beeson from Prep Kitchen informed Gloucestershire Live about how avocados ensure a “steady release of energy throughout the day”, in addition to being an excellent source of fibre.

On top of that, Beeson highlighted other surprisingly powerful superfoods that might enhance the body’s nutrient intake.

Discussing avocados directly, she remarked: “Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats, which are heart-healthy fats and can provide a steady release of energy throughout the day.

“They’re also a good source of dietary fibre, which helps slow the absorption of carbohydrates and regulates blood sugar levels, giving a more stable and sustained release of energy, and reducing the likelihood of energy crashes.”

The health perks of avocados were highlighted, as they contain invigorating B vitamins like B5, B6, and folate, alongside vitamin K, vitamin E, and potassium, nutrients that are vital for energy metabolism and cell function.

But it’s not just about the creamy green fruit; coffee and dark chocolate pack a powerful antioxidant punch too.

Kerry pointed out: “Examples of other nutrient-dense foods include fruits and vegetables, in particular, dark fruits such as red grapes, cherries, and berries and veggies like broccoli, kale, peppers, and mushrooms.”

She went on to say, “Healthy fats can be found in oily fish, nuts and olive oil, and spices such as turmeric. Green tea, coffee, and dark chocolate also have a high antioxidant content.”

Echoes of royalty and celebrity trends emerge, as King Charles is known for his avocado indulgence, and it was reported by The Telegraph in 2019 that Victoria Beckham consumes three to four daily to enhance her skin.
