La Crosse man accused of hitting police cars with firework, other objects over several months – WIZM NEWS

The suspect in an alleged firework attack on a La Crosse police car is being charged with reckless endangerment.

Keller

During a court hearing Tuesday, Shawn Keller of La Crosse denied wrongdoing, and objected to a cash bond of $100,000.

“I’m not able to afford that,” Keller said during a video appearance from the county jail. “I’m just 30 years old. I didn’t do any of those charges.”

Last weekend, a manned squad car on Jackson Street reportedly was struck by a flashing firework, thrown from another vehicle, and sustained some damage.

The officer in the car was not hurt. Keller was arrested not long after the incident.

Police believe Keller has also attacked other squad cars recently with a brass ring, and ice, and spit on one car.

La Crosse County Judge Mark Huesmann called the allegations against Keller “quite disturbing,” as well as “frankly somewhat bizarre.”

The judge ordered Keller to possess no weapons, and do no driving, while the case is in court.

Keller faces five charges, including reckless endangerment. He’s scheduled back in court next week.
