THERE are plenty of theme parks across Europe, which means holidaymakers probably haven’t heard about every single one.
While the winter has people planning festive days out, theme parks are a great choice for families and thrill-seekers.
Walibi Holland is one of the largest theme parks in the Netherlands, with more than 30 rides and attractions.
The Dutch theme park is expanding its offering even further.
The theme park, which is located in Biddinghuizen, a small village in the Netherlands, has announced plans to expand.
According to The Coaster Kings, Walibi Holland will open a new rollercoaster in 2025.
The new rollercoaster will be built by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), and it will be Europe‘s first RMC single rail coaster.
Other new features will include a family-friendly rollercoaster, and a new indoor area is expected to open sometime between 2026 to 2029.
Park Director Mascha Taminiau said: “In the next few years, we’ll work hard to reach both our sustainability and growth goals.”
In addition to the brand-new rollercoaster, the indoor theme park will also open other attractions, as well as food and drink stations.
While there is no firm opening date for the new attractions, the new rollercoaster is slated to open in 2025.
Walibi Holland first opened its doors in 1971 under the name Flevohof.
The Dutch theme park went bankrupt in 1992 after its educational theme struggled to compete with some of the country’s more modern attractions.
Flevohof was purchased by the Walibi Group, and it was redeveloped into an amusement park.
Earlier this year, Walibi Holland opened its newest rollercoaster, which was built by Rocky Mountain Construction.
Untamed can reach a top speed of 92 km/h, and it also features five inversions.
There are plenty of other high-octane rides at the theme park too, including Goliath, which is the park’s longest rollercoaster.
Other rides include Crazy River, which is the park’s water coaster, as well as other adrenaline-inducing rides like Condor, Space Shot, and Lost Gravity.
For younger parkgoers, there are also several miniature railways, carousels, spinning swings, and bumper cars.
There are also plenty of restaurants at the Dutch theme park, including an American Cafe, a donut factory, a doner kebab restaurant, and a pizza place.
While Walibi Holland is currently closed for the winter season, the theme park is open to visitors who buy tickets to its Bright Lights event.
Every ride is illuminated in bright lights, and there are other festive attractions at the theme park too.
Entry tickets to Mandoria cost €42.50 (£37) for a full-paying adult, while tickets for children under the age of 11 cost €32.50 (£28).
Walibi Holland is a one-hour drive from Amsterdam, and it’s a 90-minute drive from Rotterdam.
EasyJet operates direct flights from UK cities like London and Liverpool, with one-way fares starting from £36 in January.
Set in Zator in Southern Poland, Energylandia is thought to be one of the largest amusement parks in Europe.
Energylandia first opened its doors in 2014 and is now home to more than 123 rides and attractions, which sit across six different zones.
A huge new rollercoaster is set to open at Legoland next spring.
Meanwhile, this was the best theme park in 2023 in the UK.
