The Conservative Party chairman has claimed there was not “any real increase” in the Labour vote and the Lib Dems “did not do well” in Thursday’s by-elections.
But Greg Hands admitted there was “lot of fury” about the reasons behind the polls in Tamworth and Mid-Bedfordshire, and Tory voters stayed at home.
He added there was a “lot of work for us to do” after his party lost both seats.
