Deshpande, who is also a whole-time director with the $4.3 billion-revenue sized sixth largest IT major, will take charge as LTIMindtree’s president of global AI services, strategic deals and partnerships, effective immediately. This was announced by the new CEO designate Venugopal Lambu in a letter dated March 7.
The changes come within two months after Lambu, erstwhile CEO of talent recruitment firm Randstad Digital, was appointed to succeed current chief Debashis Chatterjee as announced in January. Chatterjee’s term ends in November.
The COO position may not be replaced.
Last month, the L&T subsidiary also made two new appointments of chief delivery officer and chief growth officer tweaking the roles with reporting structures.
“The evolution of a new AI stack over the last 18-24 months is bringing software and services paradigms closer together, creating new frontiers of opportunities. We must adopt a new playbook to win in this “New AI Economy,” Lambu said in the letter addressing associates of the company. ET has reviewed the letter.

This strategic appointment demonstrates our commitment to being a proactive, agile organisation, capitalizing on fast-emerging trends and reinforcing our position as an industry leader, the letter read.“These efforts double down on speed to market, growth and Venu’s stated AI pivot. It is also in line with his idea of leveraging internal talent,” said a company official.
Last month, Lambu also announced two more appointments effective March 1, 2025, with Ram Khizamboor’s as the chief delivery officer, leading global delivery worldwide. “All Delivery Units, Global Delivery Offices, and Talent Supply Chain will now report to him,” Lambu said while making the announcements.
Further, all service lines will be consolidated under Krishnan Iyer as chief growth officer, with all service line heads reporting to him. Ram and Krishnan will continue to report to Nachiket Deshpande, the announcement added.
Deshpande joined Mumbai-headquartered LTIMindtree in November 2022 after the merger of L&T Infotech (LTI) and Mindtree.
Lambu further highlighted, “This new structure will foster greater ownership and collaboration within the organization, ultimately enhancing service delivery for our clients and helping achieve consistent, profitable growth.”
In a response to ET’s queries, LTIMindtree confirmed the developments announced by Lambu.
Lambu, who made a comeback in the firm, has already laid out a 90-day plan as a strategy to sharpen focus on client relationships and large deals.
In an interview with ET last month, Lambu spoke of capitalising on the ongoing GenAI wave and pivoting the organisation into an AI first company.
He is also preparing a five-year strategy “Lakshya” plan and a 2030 vision for the organisation to be kicked off by the end of this month.
