Man Utd have three Russian wonderkid brothers including 'new Wayne Rooney'

Manchester United have three wonderkid brothers on their academy books who are being keenly watched. Oldest of the trio, Amir Ibragimov, is being tipped as the ‘new Wayne Rooney’ with his performances resulting in Erik Ten Hag inviting him to train with the first team.

The midfielder had only just celebrated his 15th birthday when the call from Ten Hag came in April inviting him to train with the first team. Ibragimov was born in Russia before moving to England and initially earned a place in the Sheffield United academy.

However, he was quickly scouted and Manchester United were the side to gain his signature. He has gone on to captain the club in the under-14 and under-15 age groups before moving into the under-18s.

Liverpool are already well aware of his talent after the teenager scored the winning goal against their under-16 side before later also playing against their under-18s. United coach Raducio King oversaw the youngster’s trial and gave his views on the midfielder likening him to Wayne Rooney.

King told the Manchester Evening News: “His never-give-in mentality is what impresses me the most – if you need someone to sprint for you in the last seconds to clear the ball because there’s a counter-attack, he’d be your kid,’ he said.

“There aren’t many I’ve seen that can run like him. I could see him playing as a No 10, like a Wayne Rooney role, driving forward, switching balls, tackling, attacking, you name it. We don’t want Amir to lose his flair or creativity and as a technical coach of his, he’s got all the tools in his toolbox to succeed.”
