Manchester United are closing in on their third signing of the summer transfer window after agreeing personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Red Devils are looking to add the Uruguayan to their squad, having already announced the signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that contract terms have been discussed and agreed on between the Premier League club and the 23-year-old, with Ugarte keen on the move to Old Trafford.

However, a deal is not yet done as there is no agreement between Manchester United and PSG yet, but negotiations are ongoing.

Other clubs are also keen on the defensive midfielder, although clearly the Red Devils are in a strong position to make the signing.

Ugarte only signed for PSG from Sporting last summer in a deal worth £51m and he made 37 appearances in all competitions for the French giants last season, without scoring a goal.

Despite that fee only being spent 12 months ago, when the Uruguayan signed a five-year deal, the Guardian reports that PSG may be willing to sell him this summer for just €45m (£38m).

18-year-old centre-back Yoro was unveiled as Manchester United’s second summer signing on Thursday evening in a £52m move from Lille.

This followed Zirkzee arriving from Bologna on Sunday in a £36.5m move, after an impressive season in Serie A last time round for the Dutch striker.

Even if they land Ugarte, that may not be the end of the business at Old Trafford this summer as they are still tracking another centre-back.

Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite are on the radar, but sales will have to be made if United are to keep buying.

Mason Greenwood left the club for Marseille on Thursday, while Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala and Alvaro Fernandez have all also been sold.

Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could follow them out of the door, with Fulham and West Ham interested respectively.
