Matt Damon, Casey Affleck dish on Rob Gronkowski’s ‘Instigators’ role
Matt Damon and Casey Affleck tell USA TODAY’s Marco della Cava what it was like working with Rob Gronkowski for “The Instigators.”
Cambridge natives Matt Damon and Casey Affleck were recently seen in Boston again, this time to… rob a Dunkin’?
To promote their new movie “The Instigators,” where they play partners in a heist, Damon and Affleck filmed a commercial where they pretend to rob Dunkin’ in Boston.
In the video, the pair approaches a Dunkin’ cashier with paper bags over their hands, and Casey says “We got good news and bad news. The good news is your shift’s over. The bad news is you’re being robbed.”
The irritated employee rips the bags off, revealing he knows they don’t have weapons because he can see their hands underneath the brown paper. “Two instigators here, huh? Busting chops,” the cashier says annoyed.
After the “heist” fails, Damon and Affleck give in to the employee’s prompts to order, with Affleck ordering a strawberry frosted donut and Damon ordering a Boston kreme donut and a large “regulah” coffee. The cashier places their orders in the same paper bags they used to cover their hands, and Damon says the choice is “bettah for the environment.”
What is ‘The Instigators’?
In the acting duo’s newest movie together, Damon and Affleck combine comedy and action as they go on the run from the police after a failed robbery.
“Boston’s most wanted” can be seen running through several locations in the city, including City Hall plaza, the bridge on Massachusetts Avenue and a fire station in the North End.
The movie is produced by Artists Equity, a filmmaking company founded by Damon and Casey’s brother Ben Affleck in 2022. Doug Liman directed, and Casey Affleck co-wrote the screenplay.
