Muscat: As part of its efforts to strengthen the partnership between higher education institutions and the public and private sectors to link educational programs to the needs of the economy and enhance future opportunities for graduates, the Modern College of Business and Science received today His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al-Maawali, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology , who visited the college to meet with students and lecturers to learn about the academic programs and activities, and to engage in dialogue with college students who are studying majors related to the aforementioned sectors about future prospects and the roles that students can play as future cadres.
Upon his arrival to the college, His Excellency the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, was received by Dr. Munir bin Mohammed Al Maskari, Executive Chairman, Dr. Moosa bin Abdullah Al Kindi, Dean of the College, and Dr. Saeed bin Salim Al Kitani, Assistant Dean for Community Outreach. After welcoming the guest, the visit program included a tour of some of the college’s facilities and a briefing on the achievements of relevant student clubs, and a general review of the college’s programs and general academic indicators by the Dean of the College.
For his part, His Excellency shared the policies and achievements of the sectors supervised by his ministry and their prospects. In his presentation, he touched on the geographical importance of the Sultanate’s location and pointed to a number of development projects in the transport and logistics sectors, and the opportunities they provide for the Omani economy and new generations of graduates. His Excellency also explained that the Ministry seeks to increase the contribution of the transport and logistics sectors to the gross domestic product, in order to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040 in this regard.
