A record number of Mt. San Jacinto College graduates celebrated Thursday, May 23, in ceremonies at the Pechanga Resort Casino.
The ceremonies honored the college district’s 60th anniversary, using the theme “A Legacy of Transformation.”
The college opened in 1963 and saw its first graduating class in 1965 — with eight students, a news release states.
This year, 974 graduates of the 2,183 students who this year earned degrees and certificates, walked in one of two ceremonies at the casino near Temecula. That number marks the most students to take part in a district graduation ceremony.
The college district’s class of 2024 earned a total of 2,848 degrees and certificates, as some students earn more than one degree, certificate or a combination of both.
