Mutual funds had minimal impact from global Microsoft systems outage: AMFI



Almost all Asset Management Companies (AMCs), their Mutual Funds and Registrar and Transfer Agents (RTAs) functioned without any impact from the global outage of Microsoft Systems on Friday, according to AMFI.

Out of the 44 AMCs, there were five AMCs who reported disruptions to some important functions, which were resolved during the day and did not have any material impact on operations, said AMFI.

Overall, the Indian mutual fund industry did not witness any significant impact to the daily activities.

Edelweiss Mutual Fund on Friday posted on social media platform X that it was facing login issues on its website.

“We are experiencing login issues on our website due to a Microsoft outage. Our team is actively working to resolve this as quickly as possible,” Edelweiss said on social media.

Radhika Gupta, CEO, Edelweiss Mutual Fund also said, “If you are having an issue please write to @EdelweissMF and we will try to assist you over the phone. Apologies for this – truly a global outage this one is.”

London Stock Exchange’s Workspace news and data platform also suffered outage, while Indian stock exchanges BSE and NSE were said to be unaffected.

LSEG Group’s Workspace news and data platform suffered an outage on Friday that affected user access worldwide, causing disruption across financial markets, as reported by Reuters.

Dalal Street traders were among those hit by Microsoft’s major service outage on Friday as technical glitches were reported at many brokerages.

Among the brokerages in India, Nuvama Wealth Management , Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Motilal Oswal, IIFL Securities , 5Paisa Capital and Angel Broking faced technical difficulties, traders at the brokerages told Reuters.

There was a global outage of Microsoft Systems on July 19, 2024 which caused disruptions across various sectors globally.
