In a significant move towards advancing its technological and economic development, the Namibian Cabinet, chaired by President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, has endorsed the hosting of the 2nd Nuclear Science and Technology Conference. This decision was announced during the 13th Cabinet decision-making session held on August 6th, 2024.
The conference, scheduled to take place from October 23rd to 25th, 2024, will be held under the theme “Unlocking the Potential of Nuclear Science and Technology for Namibia’s Development.” The event aims to explore the pivotal role of nuclear science and technology in the development of economies, particularly in the context of Namibia. It will also seek to mobilize industry stakeholders and align them with a common vision and strategy to fully realize the potential of the nuclear energy sector within the country.
Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Emma Theofelus, who delivered the Cabinet’s decisions, emphasized the importance of this conference in positioning Namibia as a key player in the global nuclear industry. The conference is expected to attract a wide range of participants, including policymakers, industry experts, and international stakeholders, all of whom will contribute to shaping the future of nuclear energy in Namibia.
The Objectives of the conference are to consider the role of nuclear science and technology in the development of economies of nations and mobilize industry and stakeholders for a common vision and strategy to fully realize the potential of nuclear energy industry in Namibia.
