Breakthrough Collaboration in Science, Technology, and Innovation

In a landmark agreement, two nations have pledged to collaborate in fields of science, technology, and innovation. This agreement aims to facilitate cooperation in research and development within these sectors, providing scientists and technologists from both countries the opportunity to share the latest knowledge and skills. The pact underscores the crucial importance of cooperation and coordination among academic institutions, research institutes, business sectors, and government bodies.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The collaboration is expected to have a positive impact on the economic development of both countries. It is envisaged to strengthen mutual relationships and lay the foundation for long-term partnership. The collaboration is between Nepal and a Chinese company, Panchang. Panchang has brought its cutting-edge technology to Nepal, developing a mobile application that has seen widespread use within the country.

Technology for the People

The application has been successful in delivering vital information and services to the Nepalese people. The digital resources and knowledge provided by Panchang have been beneficial to the local population, demonstrating the positive outcomes of this collaboration. There is also an agreement between Nepal and Sri Lanka to activate regional organizations.

Regional Cooperation

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) have been identified as potential areas for active collaboration, as agreed upon during a joint commission meeting at the foreign ministerial level on a Thursday. The discussion involved Foreign Minister NP Saud and his Sri Lankan counterpart Ali Sabry. The agreement also encompasses collaboration in the fields of science, technology, and innovation between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
