The facelifted third-generation Touareg will be revealed soon, but before the big unveiling, Volkswagen has launched a new variant of the current version of its big SUV, called the R-Line Tech Plus.
It’s based on the R-Line Tech and sits as the highest-spec Touareg you can order new. Volkswagen claims it offers £5,000 in additional features for £1,720 more than the R-Line Tech.
The R-Line Tech Plus has the same engine line-up as the R-Line Tech, offered with a 3.0-litre V6 TDI diesel with either 228bhp or 282bhp. Power is sent to an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. The lesser powered model starts from £64,520, whereas the more powerful model costs £67,200.
Some minor changes are visible on the exterior of the R-Line Tech Plus, with 21-inch alloys painted black along with black roof rails. Air suspension comes as standard, as does a panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate and ambient interior lighting with 30 colour choices.
As with the R-Line Tech there’s a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, a 15-inch central infotainment screen and a 12-inch driver’s display.
With a mid-life refresh of the current Touareg on the horizon, Volkswagen has already removed the V6 Black Edition from the line up – so we’d imagine if you want this well-equipped R-Line Tech Plus version you’ll have to move quickly.
