There’s nothing like a pickup game of pickleball.

Ask those who frequent Norco’s Riley Gymnasium for its open gym hours.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, residents had fun and fellowship playing the sport, and also basketball on the indoor courts.

While basketball is a longtime favorite, pickleball has been rising in popularity in recent years. Played with a plastic ball and a paddle, it blends tennis, ping-pong and badminton.

Open gym hours, which occur Mondays and Wednesdays, vary depending on the sport.

Pickleball is from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Adult basketball is played from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. And youth basketball concludes the day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
