The Park Rapids Urban Forestry Committee is holding drawings for two trees in celebration of Arbor Day.
One of the trees is a linden boulevard tree, the other an ironwood tree. The winner of each drawing will also receive a self-watering Tree Gator bag. Each giveaway exceeds $100 in value.
Property owners within Park Rapids city limits are eligible for the tree giveaway. Trees must be planted on their property within city limits.
To register, sign up at Park Rapids City Hall between April 17 and May 16 (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday) or email
city.info@ci.park-rapids.mn.us
.
Winners will be drawn at 9 a.m. Friday, May 17 and will be contacted to arrange delivery of the trees, at which time photos will be taken. Delivery will be postponed if the ground is not ready for planting.
The Urban Forestry Committee works to advance urban forestry in the community and educate the public on tree-related issues. Each year, the committee holds at least one activity to raise awareness around tree planting and a healthy urban forest.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
