The 41 year-old showcased his new slimmed down frame in recent weeks – just as he plunged Rishi Sunak’s regime into crisis with his resignation.
One Tory source said: “Robert has gone on a health kick and has a new lease of life.”
Another Westminster insider remarked: “He has gone on a leadership diet.
“Everyone thinks he definitely wants to run when a vacancy comes up.”
Another said: “His new Caesar haircut has set tongues wagging.”
George Osborne became an unlikely sex symbol in 2014 when he got a ‘Caesar haircut’ and shed some weight by going on the 5:2.
Boris Johnson confessed earlier this year that he tried the fat jab after gaining weight with late night cheese binges.
