Robert Lee Knox, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy in WWII, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024.
The son of Arthur P. Knox and Margaret E. Plut, Robert grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was born on Nov. 4, 1925, graduated from St. Paul High School and attended St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, where he graduated with high honors. He enlisted into the Navy in 1944, He became commander and chief, Combat Intelligence Division, engineering mechanic third class, and went to Aviation Support Equipment Division. After serving, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with four years of high honors as well as playing ice hockey.
The Navy recognized Robert for his honorable service, and his desire to help others. He was hired by General Electric, his educated profession and worked there for over 40 years.
Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Knox, his daughter Tamara Knox, his two sons Charles and James Knox, and his daughter-in-law Donna Knox. His grandchildren, Deyondra, Dustin, Dariana, and Danaya Patterson, Amber and Chrystian Knox, his great-granddaughter Vivianna Hanson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 6:45 p.m. with an American Legion prayer service held at 6:45 p.m. at the M.B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. American Legion, Post 326 Lake Placid, will officiate. His high honored military funeral will be held in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 12 at 1:30 p.m.
