Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is at risk of being dropped by Ruben Amorim for Sunday’s trip to Newcastle, according to reports.
Onana made two blunders during United’s 2-2 Europa League quarter-final first leg draw against Lyon on Thursday and was at fault for both goals.
Amorim refused to criticise Onana in his press conference and played down his spat with Nemanja Matic as being a factor for his performance.
The United head coach was also quizzed by TNT Sports if he would consider dropping Onana but said: ‘We’ll continue to do the same things.’
Amorim could now be set to make a U-turn, though, with the Daily Mail reporting that Onana may be dropped to the bench against Newcastle.

It is thought that United’s No.2 goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has been put on stand-by to play at St James’ Park after Onana’s errors against Lyon.
Amorim is reportedly set to make a number of other changes to his XI for the Premier League clash against Eddie Howe’s side too.
Speaking after Onana’s mistakes against Lyon on Thursday, Amorim said: ‘It can happen. If you play a lot of games you can make mistakes.
‘If you look at the season, I’ve made more mistakes than [the players] during these last months.
‘The good thing is that we have one game to change everything. That should be our focus.’

Asked if Onana was distracted by his war of words with Matic, Amorim added: ‘I don’t know. The best thing is to look at the goals and all the actions Onana had in the game.
‘This is the best way to help any player. We’ll focus on the game – what happened and what we need to improve.’
Meanwhile, Paul Scholes has issued a warning to United fans hoping for Onana to be replaced this summer.
Asked if United should find a new goalkeeper at the end of the season, Scholes told TNT Sports: ‘Yeah, I think it’s something they need to think about.
‘But they need to look at the budget as well. Can you get away with not spending that money on a goalkeeper?
‘He hasn’t been quite good enough but it will come down to money and what Amorim has got to spend.
‘We’ve seen this goalkeeper do well at Inter Milan as well. But I don’t think his distribution has been great either, and that’s one of the reasons he was brought in.
‘But can you almost get away with not spending another £40m on a goalkeeper? I don’t know. Ruben Amorim has a lot of problems to solve.’
