Samsung puts Apple on blast for iPhone alarm malfunction – The Korea JoongAng Daily

Samsung Electronics took a shot at an issue with the alarm on Apple’s iPhone in a TikTok reel demonstrating that its Galaxy alarm functions perfectly.
 
In the post uploaded on Samsung Electronics’ U.K. subsidiary on Thursday titled “Samsung users woke up on time today,” a dog wearing a hat dances in front of a DJ mixing console to the beats of the Galaxy alarm music. At the top of the screen read the phrase “Rest assured, our alarms GO OFF.”
 
The reel seemingly teased the Korean tech giant’s rival Apple amid a rising number of complaints recently by iPhone users that their alarms were not going off properly.
 
“For many people, their phone is an indispensable alarm clock and some over-sleepers turned to social media to vent,” the BBC reported on Wednesday. “Apple has confirmed it is aware of the issue — but is yet to spell out what it believes is causing it, or what users can do to avoid a late start.”
 
The Wall Street Journal and Forbes also reported on April 30 that Apple is aware of the problem and is attempting to address it.
 
The company has not revealed how many people were exposed to the problem or what devices were affected.
 
Complaints have been reported regarding the alarm staying silent despite user settings, or going off at the lowest volume, thus failing to fulfill its intended function.
 
The BBC and The Guardian speculated that the issue may involve the iPhone’s “attention aware” feature. When activated, this feature automatically kicks in if the user is paying attention to their device, dimming the display or lowering the volume of alerts, among other intended enhancements.
 
Another U.S. technology news outlet, The Verge, recommends that readers check whether the ring tone and alert volume slider under “Sound & Haptics” in settings is turned on.
