The Exynos W1000 has been announced and is made using Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 3nm (likely SF3) process.

It has a powerful CPU with five cores: 1x Cortex-A78 and 4x Cortex-A55. Samsung claims the new CPU offers 2.7x faster app launch times compared to the Exynos W930 and allows faster app switching. Single-core performance is 3.4x faster, while multi-core performance is 3.7x faster.

It uses ARM’s Mali-G68 MP2 GPU and can drive screens with resolutions up to 640 x 640 pixels. The chip also features integrated 32GB internal storage.

Samsung has used many new technologies to reduce its size and improve its performance and efficiency. It has used the fan-out panel-level packaging (FOPLP) technology to improve power efficiency and heat dissipation.

It has also embedded RAM and storage on top of the same chip using embedded package-on-package (ePOP) technology. Samsung also used the system-in-package (SiP) technology to embed the power management integrated chip (PMIC) into the same package.

The Exynos W1000 also features 2.5D Always on Display (AoD) for improved watch faces with higher details and better colors in the AoD mode. The chip also features Bluetooth LE for audio and LPDDR5 RAM for even further power savings. Its connectivity features include 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, and NFC.

According to several previous reports, the Exynos W1000 will be used in the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Thanks to newer technologies in the Exynos W1000, these upcoming Samsung smartwatches could last up to 2-3 days on a single charge.
