TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi on Monday met with Singapore’s Transportation Minister Iswaran to discuss a number of aspects but mainly attempts to strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two countries in air and ocean transportation sectors. Talks also discussed the development of human resources in the transportation sector.

“Bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore have been well established. The two countries agreed to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship and open up a number of cooperation opportunities in the transportation sector,” Budi Karya said in a written statement on Monday, February 13.

At the meeting, the two ministers witnessed the document ratification between the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation and the Singapore Ministry of Transport, as a follow-up to the Flight Information Region (FIR) agreement between the two countries in 2022.

According to Budi Karya, this is an effort to improve the safety, orderliness, and efficiency of airspace management in the regions of the two countries.

“This step shows the two countries’ commitment in implementing the FIR agreement that was signed last year,” he explained.
