Sound of silence

Sound of Silence‘ seems to be an oxymoron. But when you are alone, in a reasonably secluded place, away from the hustle and bustle, stop to listen to the solitude. You will find that it has its own voice, its own music, its own story. You only need to have the time and patience to listen. Its only that you have to tune in to the wavelength of emptiness.

Surrender yourself to the inner symphony and feel positivity and happiness take over gently but surely, so that you are meandering along a path of cheerful musings. Some would say that this is a form of wilful self-hypnosis. And they would be correct in large measure. But, to them, I would say, is there anything wrong in wanting to be happy? In fact, wanting to be happy should be a prime objective in life!

Yet, others will call it the voice of your soul that you hear in communion with the Absolute, of which it is a part. And they too would be correct. For, when you give free rein to your spirit to roam freely in the heights and depths of the unknown, that you fathom the possibilities that you need to strive for. The universe is permeated with a presence of benevolence, waiting to be discovered.

The consequence of this effort is self-awareness. This is the reason why seekers throughout the ages have been known to observe maun vrat (abstinence from speech) from time to time, to stop speaking and listen to their inner selves; listen to the sound of silence. That is because it is only when you listen that you learn.
