STRUGGLING kids are just the product of “crap parents”, a Tory MP insisted today.
James Daly sparked a row after he suggested problem children in his Bury North constituency need better families.
The former lawyer, who has a son, argued that “throwing money” at kids is left-wing and the wrong way to instil discipline.
Mr Daly, who was elected in 2019 with a majority of 105, is a member of the right-wing New Conservatives faction.
He told the I newspaper: “When you think about the family, it’s about stability.
“Most of the kids who struggle in Bury are the products of c**p parents and so what do we do to try to address that issue?
“On the left it would just be we’ll throw money at this and hope something sticks, somebody like me thinks about this more fundamentally.”
Ex- Bury North Labour MP James Frith, who will run for the seat again next year, accused Mr Daly of “insulting” parents across the constituency.
He said: “It is revealing to see how little James Daly thinks of his own constituents.”
Christian Wakeford, the Tory-turned-Labour MP for Bury South, urged locals to not to forget Mr Daly’s comments when casting their vote at the next election.
Mr Wakeford said: “This is what the current member for Bury North thinks of his constituents in the town it is an honour to represent.”
