An Ohio federal judge granted a tech industry group’s request to block enforcement of a state law that would require online platforms to identify users age 16 and under and obtain parental consent.
The Social Media Parental Notification Act requires companies to verify whether each user is under 16 and, if so, to get consent from their parents or guardians for users to create an account or access the online platform.
