Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club invites high school students to enter its music competition – The Press-Enterprise


The Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club invites high school musicians to enter its 24th annual music competition, to be held Feb. 13.

This year, the Rotary Club of Old Town Temecula is joining with the Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club in sponsoring the Temecula competition.

The contest has three categories — vocal (classical or Broadway), piano and other instrumental. First-place prize is $400, second is $250 and third is $100, all regardless of category, according to a news release.

The club winners will go on to the Rotary District 5330 finals to be held at the University of Redlands, and winners of those contests in each category will be awarded $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.

The competition is open to high school students, including those who are homeschooled. Registration is open through Feb. 9 or until the competition is full.

The community is welcome to attend the competition, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 31143 Nicolas Road, Temecula. Admission is free.

Many of the 60 Rotary clubs in District 5330, encompassing all of Riverside County and much of SanBernardino County, are also participating in this year’s Rotary music competition. Other Rotary clubs in and near Temecula that are sponsoring music competitions include Murrieta, Temecula (noon), Lake Elsinore, Wildomar and Hemet, according to the news release.

The Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club meets 7:30 a.m. every Tuesday at Journey’s End at Pechanga, 45000Pechanga Parkway, Temecula.

The Sunrise club’s main community project each year is the annual Safety Town for children ages 5 to 8, with the club’s 20th Safety Town event to be held in June. The club’s primary fundraising event is the 10K Run through the Vineyard, to be held April 27 at Maurice Car’rie Vineyard and Winery. Registration is open now for the 2024 run.
