TERESA May has announced she will be standing down as an MP at the next General Election.
The former Prime Minister told her Maidenhead constituency it had been an “honour and a privilege to serve”.
She said: “It has been an honour and a privilege to serve everyone in the Maidenhead constituency as the member of parliament for the last 27 years.”
Mrs May has been the Conservative MP for Maidenhead since 1997.
The politician was prime minister between July 2016 and 2019 when David Cameron resigned after the country voted for Brexit.
Mrs May left the role three years later due to difficulty passing her Brexit deal through parliament.
