Tesla Senior Manager for the Semi program Dan Priestley will be attending the upcoming 2024 IAA Transportation trade show. The event will be held from September 17 to 22, 2024 in Hannover, Germany.
The Tesla Semi executive’s participation at the event could be seen on the 2024 IAA Transportation trade show’s official webpage. Priestley would be participating in two talks at the event, one on September 17 and the other on September 18, 2024.
On September 17, Priestley is expected to hold a C-level keynote about the Class 8 all-electric truck. The executive’s insights during this talk would likely be very interesting considering that Priestley has been involved in the Tesla Semi program since its earliest days.
Perhaps most interesting, however, would be Priestley’s talk on September 18, which is titled “Scaling Semi Electrification: A Case Study with PepsiCo.” During this talk, the Tesla executive would be joined onstage by PepsiCo’s Electrification Program Manager, Dejan Antunović.
PepsiCo’s findings with its Tesla Semi fleet would likely be very insightful as the company is one of the few businesses that is actually using the Class 8 all-electric truck in its regular operations today. PepsiCo’s observations about the Tesla Semi could then provide some real-world insights into the viability of the Tesla Semi as a legitimate long-hauler.
Dan Priestley’s attendance at the 2024 IAA Transportation trade show suggests that Tesla is quite serious about making an impact in Europe’s transportation sector. Priestley, after all, is one of the electric vehicle maker’s most notable executives, having started at Tesla way back in 2011.
He is also intimately involved in the company’s technical projects, working on numerous prototypes and bespoke projects for Tesla Board Member JB Straubel. Priestley also led the first cross-country drive on the Supercharger Network in 2014.
Tesla’s preparations for the Semi’s appearance at the 2024 IAA Transportation trade show seem to be underway. Just recently, two Tesla Semi units have been spotted being transported on German roads. Both vehicles were later sighted being unloaded at the Giga Berlin complex.
