WATERPARKS are the perfect way to cool off at the weekend, and they’re also a great place to head with the family for some fun too.
One of those places is The Wave in Coventry, an indoor waterpark, which currently holds the record for having the largest wave pool in the UK.
Not only does it have the country’s largest wave pool, but it’s also home to six action-packed water slides.
One of those is The Crestar, which features two giant spheres with lighting effects.
The Cascade is another ride at the waterpark, and it features large sections with coloured lights.
There’s also The Torrent, which is arguably the scariest ride at the waterpark because the floor drops from beneath to plunge riders at speed.
The Rapids, which has been described as the “Big Dipper on water”, is the park’s water-coaster, where powerful jets hurl riders uphill before dropping them down through tight corners and tunnels.
Another ride is called The Cyclone, which is one of the fastest slides at the waterpark.
Guaranteed to give parkgoers a spin, it sends riders spinning around an open bowl before dropping them into a pool below.
There are other attractions at the waterpark too, including The Reef, which is a splash zone.
In the splash zone, visitors will find mini slides, tipping buckets, jets and fountains.
For younger visitors, there’s also a Wave Pool and a Lazy River.
The Wave isn’t just rides – it also has a fitness suite, dance studio, spinning studio and spa.
Other facilities include exercise classes, swimming lessons, a swimming pool, and a poolside cafe where parents can grab drinks and snacks.
Adult tickets start from £13 per person, while tickets for children cost £11 per person for a two-hour time slot.
Coventry residents can get special discounts with a Go CV card.
The best waterpark I have ever been to
The water park is open from 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and it’s also open for two hours on a Friday afternoon.
The Wave has been praised by visitors on TripAdvisor.
One person wrote: “Excellent facilities, a waterpark that’s just like being abroad but indoors.
“It has six really good slides, a wave pool and a lazy river well. It’s worth the money.”
A second person wrote: “The Wave is super clean and well maintained. Maybe we got lucky, but in our 2-hour session, we did all the slides multiple times, lazy river and wave pool then more slides.”
While a third person added: “Wow, I’m blown away, that is the best waterpark I have ever been to.”
The Wave is located in the heart of Coventry, and it’s just a 10-minute walk from Coventry train station.
There are plenty of other indoor waterparks in the UK for Brit holidaymakers to visit.
Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool
Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool is the largest indoor water park in the UK.
It has 18 slides, including the longest indoor rollercoaster water slide in the world, the Master Blaster.
Other water rides include the Sidewinder, which has an almost vertical drop, and the Montazooma, which takes parkgoers along hairpin turns.
Guests can even rent VIP Tiki Cabins for the entire day, and temperatures remain a tropical 84 degrees all year round.
Alton Towers Waterpark, Staffordshire
The water park at Alton Towers is attached to the much-loved theme park, with entry often included in ticket deals.
Set inside the Splash Landing Hotel, the Caribbean lagoon has lazy rivers, a Masterblaster wet rollercoaster, log flumes, slides, and hot tubs.
Day passes are just £17.50 when they’re booked in advance online.
And here are some other water parks in the UK you should visit, including a huge new £250million attraction opening in 2025.
