A LESSER-KNOWN ski resort in Slovakia is becoming popular online thanks to its low prices.
Every year, millions of Brits take to the slopes for a spot of skiing, or snowboarding, but largely stick to well-known resorts.
But one little-known resort in central Europe has been attracting attention online thanks to its affordable accommodation.
As reported by Euronews Weekly, Jasna ski resort in Slovakia is a “cheaper alternative” for advanced skiers.
They wrote: “It offers some of Europe’s best off-piste routes with lift passes costing around €59 (£51) per adult per day in the high season.
“Accommodation is also inexpensive at as little as €25 (£21) a night for a B&B.”
Sun Online Travel have found adult ski passes for €48 (£41) per day during the peak season – £20 cheaper than the French ski resort Chamonix.
While accommodation in Jasna can be on the pricey side, with four-star hotel stays costing upwards of £130 per night, rooms on websites like Airbnb can be rented from £22 per night per room.
Food and drink is cheap too, with a pint of draft beer costing as little as £1, meanwhile, a meal out at a mid-range restaurant will cost around £7 per person.
Over the last 10 years, the Slovakian ski resort benefitted from a huge amount of investment from various sources.
Thanks to the funding, the resort is now home to high-speed lights, off-slope facilities, and extensive snowmaking.
In total, the slopes stretch for 50km and have been said to rival those found in the Alps.
On a Fresh Track morning, advanced skiers will be able to enjoy skiing down an empty slope before the cable cars have launched.
Skiers can also stop for a spot of breakfast at the panoramic Rotunda Restaurant.
Other attractions include the Snowpark and Funzone, which features ramps for snowboarders to practice their jumps.
There’s also a nighttime ski tour where holidaymakers will be able to climb one of the routes after dark.
Both Wizz Air and Ryanair operate direct flights from London Luton Airport to Poprad-Tatry in Slovakia, with flight prices starting at £12 for a one-way ticket.
Poprad-Tatry Airport, at the foot of the Tatras Mountains, is a 40-minute drive from the Slovakian ski resort.
Meanwhile, this French ski resort has everything from snowy slopes to stunning spas.
And here is the £400billion megacity’s ski resort that’s in the desert, with huge outdoor slopes and artificial snow
