The sneaky way to book cheap flight deals during sale season without losing out

A TRAVEL expert has revealed a sneaky way to book cheap flight deals during the sales so you don’t miss out.

Brian Kelly is the founder and boss of The Points Guy, a website that tracks travel trends and he thinks 2024 will be a bumper year.

He told CBS Mornings: “You know, just since Thanksgiving 2.9million people went through the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) screening.

“And with the economy potentially not being as bad as we thought, people are feeling confident, so it’s going to be a busy year for travel.”

Kelly believes some of the hot travel destinations for the upcoming year will be Quebec, Cairo, San Diego and Costa Rica.

There is also good news for the budget travellers as airfare costs have dropped.

However, he noted that some popular destinations and peak times will have higher costs.

He said: “If you’re gonna go to Europe in the summer, you’re gonna get hit.

“If you’re trying to go to Asia, like a lot of people are, and New Zealand, airfares can be pretty dicey.”

Kelly recommended using Google Flights, especially its Explorer feature so you can find affordable non-stop flights.

He said the ideal time frame for booking flights is three to four months ahead for international trips and six to eight weeks in advance for domestic trips.

Kelly also said it was a good idea to set Google alerts when planning a holiday, to get notifications if prices drop.

He said: “If it drops below a certain price, you can book, and what I’ll say is there are great fare deals that come and go.

“Book directly with the airline. You can cancel within 24 hours.

“So when you see a screeching-hot deal, book it – you have 24 hours, then you take off work and you figure out those logistics.”

Elsewhere, a flight booking expert says there is only one way to really make sure you find the cheapest tickets.

And this traveller has invented a clever trick to ensure he always finds the cheapest tickets.

This symbol could mean you’re eligible for money back when booking flights.
