Tottenham ready to sell SEVEN players in order to fund Ange Postecoglou rebuild

No less than seven Tottenham players are on the chopping block this summer as Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild continues, according to reports.

After a very strong start, Spurs’ season has petered out with a run of just two wins in eight all but ending their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Realistically, they must win all three of their remaining games and hope that Aston Villa fail to win their last two in order to stand a chance at finishing in the top four.

And even a place in Europe is not yet guaranteed, with just six points separating fifth-placed Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Nevertheless, the club are already preparing for next season in the Europa League, acknowledging that their squad depth must improve with their number of fixtures set to greatly increase.

After spending £234million in his first summer, Spurs will back the popular Postecoglou in the upcoming transfer window, with the manager looking to sign three key players.

The Times report that the Aussie wants a centre-back, midfielder and striker, but in order to fund this, the club are ready to offload seven stars.

Namely, and as expected, fringe players Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil are all to be sold, after costing a combined £86.5m but failing to break into Postecoglou’s plans.

Emerson Royal is also up for sale having been a useful versatile defender this campaign, but the Brazilian’s form has left much to be desired.

Perhaps most surprisingly, Richarlison and Yves Bissouma could also be axed despite only signing for the club two years ago with their form often blowing hot and cold.

Richarlison’s performances especially have been under a microscope after scoring just three times in his first season under Antonio Conte, though he has upped that to a respectable 12 this campaign.

That may not be enough to save the £50m forward however, who has struggled with injury and off-pitch issues and there is much interest in Brazil’s No.9 from the Saudi Pro League.

In addition to the aforementioned seven, young striker Alejo Veliz is set to be sent out on loan again having made just four appearances since joining Sevilla on a short-term deal back in January.
