Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd miss out on leading target as medical scheduled

Wydad Casablanca president Hicham Ait-Menna has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo rejected a transfer ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Al-Nassr striker received multiple offers for summer moves so that he could feature in the first edition of FIFA’s revamped tournament.

And Wydad Casablanca have emerged as one of the clubs that tried an audacious swoop for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

“I don’t know how the rumour spread,” Ait-Menna explained.

“But yes, I did reach out to one of his agents about three-and-a-half or four months ago, asking: ‘Would he want to play the Club World Cup?’ He replied, ‘Listen, I don’t think so.’”
