Sky is switching things up at the start of the year with the telly firm announcing that the Peacock app is closing its doors on January 9. This streaming service, which launched back in 2021, currently gives Sky users the chance to watch a swathe of shows such as Below Deck, Suits, Rutherford Falls and Keeping up with the Kardashians without it adding anything extra to subscriptions.
It’s been a nice addition to devices such as Sky Q, Glass and Stream but in a few weeks that will all change with Sky saying, “The Peacock app will close on 9 January.”
If you are a fan of this service there’s good and bad news. Sky has said that most shows on Peacock will simply move to channels such as Sky Witness, Sky Max and Sky Comedy. That means the majority of Sky users will still be able to tune in without facing any extra fees.
A handful of programmes including Real Housewives of New Jersey will sadly move premium service Hayu. That requires a £4.99 per month fee to watch so fans may need to pay more if they are missing some content.
Finally, a total of four Peacock titles which are currently available to view will be removed completely – these include A Friend of the Family, The Resort, Vampire Academy and Bel Air (S1).
Nothing will happen over the Christmas period with Peacock staying live until the second week of January.
Peacock isn’t the only change announced by Sky. It was recently announced that those with a Q box can now gain access to the full Channel 4 app.
That means there’s finally the ability to watch shows such as Gogglebox, The Inbetweeners, Married at First Sight and The Great British Bake Off whenever they like.
Along with plenty of free content to watch, The Channel 4 app provides a range of features including personalised content suggestions, the ability to continue watching across multiple devices, and a ‘My List’ feature to bookmark shows.

Over the coming months viewers can expect to see us continue to enhance our presence across multiple platforms.”
