For any typical Nigerian home, cutting down cost on overpriced utilities or services such as cable television otherwise known as pay-tv is non-negotiable as inflation hits harder.

Internet services aren’t exactly cheap but have become a can’t-do without in homes, which more often than not go for unlimited data services for a given period of time. So why go for pay-tv services that keep increasing their tariff when there is unlimited data in the home that would capture digital terrestrial TV viewing as opposed to the viewing limitations of pay-tv services? Even if your data tariff isn’t unlimited, with Internet TV, you only pay for viewed content, which makes it cheaper than pay-tv that charges you even when not in-use.

Those were Ayotunde Jagunlabi’s view when he spoke to The Guardian on why he decided to buy an Internet enabled television just to put an end to the financial inconvenience of pay-tv constant service increment.

Beyond the pay-tv price inflation, Internet enabled TV has become the order of the day in homes based on its advancement from traditional TV, that allows access to online contents through streamed audio, videos, shows and movies.
