3/6: “This water lily bloomed by itself among the cattails in the small stream between Lake Itasca and Elk Lake in Itasca State Park, where I photographed it one sunny day last summer (2023),” says Paul Putz of Nevis. “I exposed for highlights to retain their detail, cropped the print so the green reeds frame the flower, then darkened the shadows to let the sunlit blossom stand out and give the image the effect of being a detail in an old painting.”
