TRAVELLERS have been warned to follow an unexpected flying rule if they want to avoid dreaded jet lag.
The trick was put forward by trtltravel who suggested the time of a long haul flight can have a big impact on the days that follow.
Curbing jetlag can be best achieved by touching down at a destination in the evening or night time, according to the site.
“If possible, opt for flights that arrive at your destination during the evening or night,” a list of recommendations read.
“This way, you can go to bed shortly after arriving, which helps your body adjust to the local time more easily.”
The advice went on to detail other methods to avoid jet lag’s impact if it does end up affecting a traveller.
Among these cures were drinking “plenty of water” throughout flights, sleeping on the plane and avoiding coffee and alcohol.
Natural light exposure after landing may also lessen jetlag’s impact, according to the travel site.
After landing, it’s best advised to create a dark and quiet environment to sleep and avoid heavy meals in a bid to get some shut eye.
However, some experts suggest an app is best to stop your body clock, from being thrown out of sync when crossing time zones.
Others said it’s best to adjust to the local time when you board the plane.
They said eating and sleeping as if it’s the time at your destination from the moment you board.
